Welcome to Romance Author - Nola Cross

I’m delighted to welcome Nola Cross to the blog.

Nola Cross

Hello Nola, It was great to connect with you through our romance publisher, BeachwalkPress Inc. where a wide range of quality ebooks in a variety of subgenres and heat levels are offered.
But before we learn more about your #Amazon Best Seller - Sunny’s Second Chance, here are a few questions which will hopefully give your readers and followers in insight into some of the things that matter to you.

Arabella: Are there any organisations, writing, or reader groups, you belong to? And, how do they support or help you in creating such wonderful, inspirational novels?
Nola: I belong to Romance Writers of America, both the national organization and the Golden Network, which is a chapter for Golden Heart finalists. Right now the national organization is going through an upheaval; I’m not sure I’ll stay a member. But that would mean giving up membership in the Golden Network, which I treasure. So I’ll wait and see.

Arabella: Where do you read? Sofa or bed or ____?
Nola: I have a comfy couch in my office where I write, read, and frequently take naps with my cat, Maggie.

Arabella: In your Christmas holiday themed novel, Sunny’s Second Chance, who is your favourite character and why?
Nola: Sunny’s Second Chance (Beachwalk Press) was released five years ago, but it is still one of my favourite books I’ve written. As to favourite character in the book, it’s a toss up between Sunny and Ben, who are both a little bit broken but still willing to believe in the magic of the holidays and the healing power of love.

Arabella: When writing a novel, how do you work? Are you a plotter or pantser?
Nola: As the years go by I’ve become less of a pantser. The publisher I work with now requires a detailed proposal, so I have to know where my story is going to go before I start writing. But of course there are always surprises as the characters come alive for me.

Arabella: Which would you prefer to do: 1) spend a morning vigorously working out at the gym, 2) be pampered from head to toe at the spa and beauty salon, 3) indulge and pile on the pounds with a romantic dinner for two?
Nola: I’ve got to go with the dinner for two. (Forget the romance—let’s talk about the food.) A big seafood salad, a glass of wine and something chocolate for dessert. Ahhhh.

Seafood Salad

Arabella: Which would you rather wear: beach shorts and top, a long evening skirt and blouse, pyjamas and slippers?
Nola: Hmmm. I live in my jammy bottoms these days but I wear regular shoes with them. What can I say? I’m a fashion maven.

Arabella: We all have a long list of books we keep meaning to read but never have the time for --- which book is a must read for you this season?
Nola: I don’t have titles in my head, but the newest release from RaeAnne Thayne is always at the top of my reading list, and anything by Sarah Addison Allen or Tracy Brogan.

Arabella: What about your future plans? Any books or series in the making?
Nola: I’m just finishing up the first book in a three-book series for Tule Publishing. The Cowboy Comes Undone takes place in Texas Hill Country and features a small town setting, a cattle ranch and working cowboys, which is a first for me. Tule is a new-to-me publisher and I’m hoping we’re starting a long association.

Thanks, Arabella, for inviting me to be a guest on your lovely blog. I’ve enjoyed this fun and thought provoking little quiz. -- Nola

Thank you, Nola. It was lovely having you as a guest on Arabella’s Blog and Chit-Chat.
And I have to say you’ve educated me. I had to look up the word “maven”.
Microsoft Thesaurus word search has declared you to be an: Expert, Connoisseur, Devotee, Pundit, and Enthusiast.
Wishing all the best for your recent release and hoping there’s lots more happy-ever-after writing to come.

About Nola Cross

Nola Cross

Nola began writing before she even started school and won her first writing contest at the age of nine. It’s always been her dream to be an author. She’s a two-time Golden Heart finalist and several of her stories have been Amazon best sellers. For awhile she penned erotic fiction under a pseudonym. Although it was fun to explore her “darker side”, she is now answering the true call of her heart: to write bigger stories that focus on emotion, loss, spirit, and true love, stories she hopes her readers will relate to and want to read more than once. Small town America is her favorite fictional setting.
Nola lives in a comfortable old fixer-upper in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, in southwest Washington state. Two fine cats and a collie dog act as her muses. And seven years ago the family welcomed their first grandchild, darling Ona Mae.
Nola loves to connect with her readers, authors and other friendly folks. Feel free to email her or friend her on Facebook.

Book Blurb:   Sunny’s Second Chance

It's a rough Christmas for just-divorced Sunny Williamson and her six-year-old daughter, Jasmine. When your no-good husband leaves you for a pretty young dancer, it's hard not to feel old, fat, and frumpy. But then she meets a handsome widower, Ben Stillman, and his young son, Spencer. The two kids hit it off, dragging their parents into an unwitting friendship.

Sunny's never thought about dating a white man. The whole interracial thing seems risky, especially since Jasmine is still struggling with adjusting to her father's defection. What if the little girl gets attached to Ben and Spencer and things don't work out?

Ben has been struggling under the weight of grief since his wife's death a year ago. He suspects it's too soon to move on, but somehow he wants to make Christmas special for Spencer. Then he meets Sunny and everything changes. She chases away the darkness and makes him feel alive again. Can the two of them learn to trust the magic between them long enough to give love a second chance?

Sunny’s Second Chance:  (Published 2014 from Beachwalk Press)
