Is Jason ready to give love a chance, and can he capture Beth’s heart?
Jason Andre is a successful billionaire architect who thinks he can get what he wants when he wants.
Beth Ashton is a feisty redhead with an up-and-coming career as a landscape designer. And she wants nothing to do with Jason.
From the outset, sparks fly between them. She excites him and he infuriates her.
When Jason’s light aircraft crashes and he loses his sight, Beth steps in and does exactly what she promised she wouldn’t do…she works for him.
Are Beth and Jason destined to love or is passion and desire the only thing on offer?
Chapter Two - Excerpt 4
Jason stood in the centre of the room gazing at the woman before him. He was mesmerised. It wasn’t often he was at a loss for words, but on this occasion, he was spellbound. She had captured his full attention.
He was fascinated by the flash of fire he saw in her eyes, and the bite of scorn he’d heard in her voice. He couldn’t take his eyes from her.
“Jason.” His sister was trying to attract his attention, but was not having much success.
His gaze and thoughts were only for the auburn-haired woman standing before him.
“Let me introduce you to Elizabeth Ashton of Ashton Landscaping,” Sophie said. “Beth’s the garden designer I’ve been telling you about. Beth, meet Jason Andre…my brother. Jason has wanted to meet you to talk about your work.”
In that moment, Jason realised he had fallen into one of Sophie’s traps, and he was furious. He’d assumed the designer was a man, and his sister hadn’t corrected him.
The landscape gardener was…a woman.
Not that he was sexist…no. He liked women. He loved them. He couldn’t be without a woman at his side. But as a colleague on a development project and in construction…no!
The fault was his. He should have known better. It had been wrong of him to have listened to Sophie with half an ear and he ought to have questioned her further about the landscaper.
Beth was a woman―in fact, Beth was all woman, and then some.
The tigress shook her mane of auburn hair and squared her shoulders, as if preparing for an attack.
Flexing her claws, Beth stepped toward him with her hand held out. He grasped it, engulfing it in his powerful grip, and he could feel her tension as they touched.
Jason looked at her ringless fingers.
“Mr. Andre.” Beth had forced her lips to part into a semblance of a smile. “As you’ve probably gathered…I’m Beth Ashton. Pleased to meet you. Sophie’s told me about your predicament and your need of a landscaper.”
But before Beth had a chance to say anything more, he stopped her.
“And I’ve obviously not heard enough about you, Miss Ashton. It seems I’ve been kept in the dark about a lot of things, and I’m beginning to wonder why.” His remark was dry, sarcastic and full of irritation.
Displeased, he looked over Beth’s shoulder in the direction of his sister. Sophie knew his opinion about working with females. He simply didn’t work with them…full stop.
And then his gaze dropped and rested on Beth. He raised a brow questioningly, and this time there was no doubt his anger was aimed at Beth, and not Sophie.
Hearing the landscaper was a woman had ruffled his feathers. It wasn’t in his scheme of things, and it certainly wasn’t his plan to have a woman on site. For some reason, he felt that these two women were taking him for a fool…and a fool he was not.

One of the many things Arabella loves to do is to read. And when she’s not researching or writing about romance, she is either on her allotment sowing and planting with the seasons or she is curled on the sofa with a book, while pandering to the demands of her attention seeking cat.
Having lived and worked in the Netherlands as a theatre nurse for nearly twenty years, she now lives in the south west of England with her family.
Arabella hopes her readers have as much pleasure from her romance stories as she has in writing them.
