I’m delighted to welcome romance author Peri Elizabeth Scott to my blog.
Hello Peribeth/Allyson – It was lovely to connect with you through our
publisher Evernight Publishing and I’m so pleased you are able to appear as a
guest on Arabella’s Blog and Chit-Chat
this week. But before we discover more about your latest release, Chopped
there are a few questions that will hopefully give your readers and followers
an insight into some of the things that matter to you.
Arabella: When writing a romance are there any key traits, such as virtuously good or shamelessly bad, you like to give your characters?
Peribeth/Allyson: I had to think about that! The men are usually
alphas but have the ability to look at themselves and grovel when in the wrong.
The women are always feisty and strong-willed and make mistakes but aren’t
consciously cruel.
Arabella: A story has a beginning, middle, and an end. When penning your
latest release, Chopped, which part
did you find the hardest to write and why?
Peribeth/Allyson: Hmmm.
You know, the hardest parts to write in Chopped
were the sex scenes. I enjoyed my characters’ personalities enough to wish I
could omit the graphic details!
Arabella: We all have a long list of books we keep meaning to read but never have the time for --- which book is a must-read for you this season?
Peribeth/Allyson: The
Investigator by John Sandford He’s my
favourite author ever. The Investigator is his latest and a spin-off of his
Prey series. I am on tenterhooks for a paranormal romance titled Snowfang
Secret by Merry Ravenell that had better be released in January 2023 as
promised, lol. It’s the second in a series, and I am impatient.
Arabella: Thinking and planning ahead… Your aim is to organise a two-week holiday for you and your family. Do you:
a) Play safe and camp in the back garden?
b) Take the risk and book a hotel room and flight abroad?
c) Find another solution for a relaxing two-week break?
Peribeth/Allyson: I
pick c). Visit a spa, spend a couple of days, then book a fancy hotel room, see
a show/theatre and eat exotic meals for a few days. Visit a couple of boutiques
for a wardrobe upgrade. Good to go!
Arabella: As a published author, what advice would you give to someone starting out on their writing journey? In other words, what are the pitfalls a budding novelist should try to avoid?
Peribeth/Allyson: I always say read the submission outlines.
They usually state they are looking for works that are well-polished
mechanically and with no head hopping, plus specifics for some publishers. Use
a free service like Grammarly or Editor and research head hopping. Then grow a
thick skin, and ask trusted friends to read and give honest feedback. If you
can, ask another author to be a critique partner. If your work isn’t polished,
you’re far less likely to get a look in.
Arabella: You’re outside a florist and can’t resist the temptation to buy… Which floral arrangement do you choose?
Peribeth/Allyson:
Peonies and Baby’s Breath.
Gypsophilia - Baby's Breath |
Arabella: What about your future plans? Any books or series in the making?
Peribeth/Allyson: Still working on the next in the Destined YA
series, and an MC read that my betas tell me is too high brow! (I need to take
my own advice!)
Thank you for joining me on Arabella’s Blog and Chit-Chat, Peribeth/Allyson.
And your SPA weekend sounds ideal. Wishing you all the best for your latest release
– Chopped.

CHOPPED - Peri Elizabeth Scott (released March 31/22)
He’s
gorgeous, arrogant, and infuriating and seems to take a singular interest in
criticizing her—with scant approval and encouragement. Regan has a second job
that she loves equally, working as a flash dancer in a nearby club, but she
needs both incomes. So she won’t let him chop her.
Chef
Malachi is determined to make The Salt Cellar Vegas’s best restaurant. All is
going according to plan despite the attitude of his feisty prep cook. He might
be inexplicitly drawn to her, but that won’t get in the way of his work ethic.
They have chemistry, but is it palatable or, like revenge, a dish better served
cold?
